Richard N. Bernstein: Mr. Richard N. Bernstein is a principle shareholder of the international law firm of Greenberg Traurig, P.A. in Miami, Florida, where he is a member of the firm’s Corporate Securities Practice Group. Mr. Bernstein specializes in Business Transactional Law, Mergers and Acquisition, International Law and private and public financing matters. Mr. Bernstein is a frequent lecturer on transactional and corporate law, and has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Miami School of Law. Mr. Bernstein attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for his BBA (Accounting) and MBA (Finance) attaining high honors, and the University of Miami School of Law for his JD degree (cum laude). Mr. Bernstein received his designation as a Certified Public Accountant in 1978 (currently inactive). Mr. Bernstein has been involved in senior leadership positions in a number of local, national and international philanthropic organizations in the U.S., Israel and Europe. Francisco Garcia: Mr. Francisco Garcia is a Managing Director and Executive Partner of the Easton Funds consisting of three venture capital funds with $200.0 million in committed capital and offices in New York and Miami. Mr. Garcia has twenty-five years of experience as a principal investor and investment banker. Before joining Easton in 2000, he was the head of Corporate Finance at Cramer Rosenthal McGlynn, LLC, a large funds management and private equity firm and earlier ran Neptune Management Company (a manager of funds and accounts investing in special situations and distressed securities) for 10 years. Prior to founding Neptune, Mr. Garcia was an Executive Vice President of Smith-Vasiliou, an investment fund; a Vice President in Corporate Finance at Kidder, Peabody & Co.; and an attorney with Sullivan & Cromwell. He received a J. D. degree from Harvard Law School and an AB degree from Harvard College. He serves on the Boards of Archibald Frozen Deserts, IVREA Pharmaceuticals, Inc., TransMolecular, Inc., Gentis Inc. and Autonet Mobile Inc.
Moty Hermon: Mr. Moty Hermon has been an active investment banker and venture capitalist with a focus on technology and healthcare related companies for over three decades. Between 1979 and 1986, Mr. Hermon served as General Manager of Elron Technologies, Inc. in New York. The Elron group was at the time the largest holding company of high tech related companies in Israel. Mr. Hermon was the exclusive representative and Partner with Prudential Securities in Israel. Also, Mr. Hermon was a Partner with TA Associates —a leading Boston based venture capital firm. Mr. Hermon holds a BA in Economics and Political Science from Tel-Aviv University. Mr. Hermon is the father of Gil Hermon.
Richard J. Lampen: Mr. Richard J. Lampen is the CEO of Ladenburg Thalmann Financial Services Inc. (AMEX: LTS) (“Landenburg Thalmann”) a Miami based investment bank. Also, Mr. Lampen is an Executive Vice President of Vector Group Ltd. (NYSE: VGR) (“Vector Group”), a New York Stock Exchange listed holding company. Vector Group is engaged principally in the tobacco business through its Liggett Group LLC subsidiary and in the real estate and investment business through its New Valley LLC subsidiary. New Valley LLC owns 50%of Douglas Elliman Realty, LLC, which operates the largest residential brokerage company in the NewYork metropolitan area. Prior to his present positions, Mr. Lampen was a partner from 1992 to 1995 of Steel Hector&Davis, LLP, a law firm based in Miami, Florida, where he served as co-chairman of the firm’s Corporate Department. Previously, Mr. Lampen spent six years at Salomon Brothers Inc, a leading investment banking firm, most recently as a Managing Director and a senior member of the firm’s Leveraged Finance Group. During a portion of his career with Salomon Brothers Inc., Mr. Lampen was based in its Tokyo office, where he had primary responsibility for the firm’s mergers and acquisitions efforts in Asia. Mr. Lampen serves as a director of CDSI Holdings Inc. (OTC: CDSI), Ladenburg Thalmann and Douglas Elliman Realty, LLC. He has served as a director of a number of other companies, including New Valley Corporation (NASDAQ: NVAL), U.S. Can Corporation (NYSE: USC), Spec’s Music Inc. (NASDAQ: SPEC) and The International Bank of Miami, N.A., as well as a court-appointed independent director of Trump Plaza Funding, Inc. Mr. Lampen is the past Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Ransom Everglades School and the past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Miami children’s Museum. Mr. Lampen received a B.A. degree from Johns Hopkins University in 1975 and a J.D. degree from Columbia Law School in 1978, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. He is a member of the Florida Bar and has served as Chairman of its Securities Law Committee.
German Leiva: Mr. German Leiva is President and CEO of MFZ Management Corp., a Miami based investment corporation. From 1978 to 2000, Mr. Leiva was President and Chief ExecutiveOfficer of theMiami Free Zone Corporation. From 1973 to 1977, Mr. Leiva was President of Marmoles Andinos, S.A., a marble factory in Bogota, Colombia; President of LadrilleraMonserrate, a brick factory based in Bogota, Colombia; and President of Cream Helado Ltda. a food products manufacturer and distributor in Bogota, Colombia. From 1969 to 1973, he was AdministrativeManager of Aceitales, S.A., an edible oils factory in Bogota, Colombia. From 1967 to 1969, Mr. Leiva was Director of Marketing at Colombiana de Empaques Bates, S.A., a subsidiary of St. Regis Paper Co., in Bogota, Colombia. Mr. Leiva is a former Trustee and member of the Board of directors of the Beacon Council. He is President and a member of the Board of Directors of the Customs/Trade/Finance symposium of the Americas, Inc., and Chairman of the South Florida District Export Council of the U.S. Department of Commerce. He is a Former Trustee and member of the Board of Governors of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce and a former member of the Greater Miami Foreign-Trade Zone, Inc.; former Trustee and member of the Executive Committee of the World Trade Center- Miami; former member of CAMACOL (LATIN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE); former President and member of the Greater Miami Colombian American Chamber of Commerce. He is a past member of the Florida International University Council of 100, and a past Trustee and member of the Board of Directors of the Hospital Relief Fund of the Caribbean. Mr. Leiva holds a BA in Economics and Business Administration from University of El Rosario in Bogota. He also holds a BA and MA in Economics and Business Administration from University of Wisconsin.
Brian Nelson: Mr. Brian Nelson is a Venture Partner at FVF. Mr. Brian Nelson has extensive experience with corporate, intellectual property and technology transactions for public and private middle market and early stage companies. He is a Senior Vice President and General Legal Counsel at Campus Management Corporation, an enterprise technology company. Mr. Nelson helped lead the company’s sale in 2008 to a private equity firm. Previously, he was an attorney in the Ft. Lauderdale office with Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge. Mr. Nelson has advised clients on strategic growth, including financing, acquisitions and commercialization of proprietary products and services. He has worked within diverse industries, such as software, hardware, telecom, entertainment, e-commerce, banking, manufacturing, aviation, travel, healthcare and pharmaceuticals. Mr. Nelson is committed to the continued growth of the Florida community, and he is a founder and former Chairman of the South Florida Technology Alliance, a member of the Board of Advisors of FIU’s Global Entrepreneurship Center, General Counsel and board member of AdoptAClassroom, and an advisor to the Tracy Morning’s Honey Shine Foundation.
Douglas Rudolph: During the 1970’s, Mr. Rudolph owned and operated several real estate projects including Summerwinds in Miami, Cortez Villas in Tampa, and the Daytona Mall. In 1977, Mr. Rudolph developed, owned and operated a chain of the first 23 Wendy’s restaurants in Dade County, Florida, employing over 1,000 people. After selling the company in 1983, he created, developed and operated the Rudy’s Sirloin Steakburgers chain in 1984, which he took public in 1986 on NASDAQ , and operated until selling the company four years later. He then owned and operated the Samurai Japanese Steakhouse chain, acquired the Kyoto Japanes Steakhouse chain, and subsequently sold that company to Benihana Restaurants in 1995. Since that time, Mr. Rudolph has been an active investor in public and private businesses, hedge funds and a variety of real estate and investment vehicles. Mr. Rudolph is married for 20 years, with two children, aged 15 and 17, and lives in Bal Harbour, Florida.
Dr. Ariel Soffer M.D. F.A.C.C.: Dr. Ariel Soffer graduated from the University of Miami School of Medicine with distinction, and completed a residency in internal medicine at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills, California. Dr. Soffer completed his cardiovascular fellowships at the University of Southern California and Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Florida. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases, and is a Licensed Nuclear Cardiologist. He is the former Chief of Medicine of Hollywood Medical Center and is the current CEO/President of HealthwoRx and the Official Preventive Cardiologist for the NHL’s Florida Panthers. He is a book author and national speaker on many cardiovascular issues and currently trains cardiologists on various techniques and procedures worldwide.
